The CCE Prevent programme works with creative agents, cultural practitioners, community activists and schools in selected areas in England. A key aim of the programme is to channel young people's views and thoughts through filmmaking, poetry and writing in order to challenge extremist ideologies.
Working closely with the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) CCE is exploring how culture and creativity can provide useful models of practice when working with schools and wider communities on Prevent strategy objectives.
CCE, alongside local authorities and community organisations, is working to support young people’s resilience and provide positive routes for their opinions and thoughts on global issues.
The work also involves creating opportunities for members of the wider community to engage in seminars and dialogues that focus on local issues in relation to extremism and help to build resilient communities. CCE’s work also provides continued professional development for creative agents, arts practitioners and educators to help them work with schools on these complex and often sensitive issues more effectively.
