- Couscous Global Lab
The Couscous Global Lab brought fifteen young people (aged 17-30) living in Britain together with leading international artists, over six days in the UK, to debate the impact of Government strategies on young people. The participants explored various government strategies affecting young people, particularly the Prevent Strategy.
The Couscous Global Lab was inspired by the experiences of a group of young people who began meeting together in a low budget art project in a high school in Amsterdam in 2001, instigated by the mayor’s anxiety about extremism. These first dialogues in Holland went on to become a festival, then a popular national TV series, "Couscous & Cola", which was also broadcast worldwide by Aljazeera and nominated for an Emmy Award.
