Proactive Communities Lab

In March 2009 Performing Arts Labs (PAL) designed and delivered a symposium over three days that aimed to explore the creative possibilities and new collaborations between a group of artists selected from across England with a wide range of artistic practice. The challenge was to stretch the limits of individual artistic practice within the context of the Prevent strategy.

One outcome of the Proactive Communities Lab was the stimulation of ideas for new forms of self-organised activities between artists, young people, policy-makers and others engaged in building pro-active and resilient communities. It also led to the development of relationships between the group of artists, and inspired a series of new collaborations and approaches to working with the strategy.
