NFER Creative Partnerships Attainment and Behaviour

The National Foundation for Educational Research conducted a programme-level evaluation of Creative Partnerships between Autumn 2002 and Summer 2004 (Sharp et al. 2005).

The programme-level evaluation focused on measuring the changes in self-confidence, self-esteem and attitudes to learning amongst young people who took part in Creative Partnerships activity. However the evaluation was not equipped to address the issues of the impact that involvement in Creative Partnerships may have on pupil performance. In consultation with Arts Council England, it was decided in 2006 that the NFER should explore using multi-level modeling whether Creative Partnerships has had a significant positive impact on longer-term educational attainment using DCSF data. The report was subsequently repeated in 2008 with more up to date data, and a report looking at DCSF data about young people’s behaviour was also produced.

These are both being repeated for a new report using 2007/08 DCSF data. The report is due to be published at the end of 2009.
