Yaminay is a visual artist who works with the emotional and physical architectures of ‘longing’, drawing on the precarious nature of place, home and cities. She likes to work with fragments and uses multiple media including video, performance and text. Many of her projects are materialized through intimate collaboration with strangers.
Chaudhri has a degree in architecture, and an MFA in combined media studio arts. She has taught fine art and social practice at many universities in Pakistan and in the US and has been lucky to work with some incredible kids in elementary schools around the world. Her artwork has been shown in many galleries, institutions and everyday places, and she is a proud founding member of the Tentative Collective; an interdisciplinary art organization based in Karachi, Pakistan.
