CCE in Thailand

Paul Collard, Chief Executive of CCE, has been supporting the work of the Education Equity Fund (EEF) in Thailand over the past few years, working closely with Sripatum University. This programme of work has now expanded considerably and involves two additional major Thai Universities and two large Foundations. Together, these five institutions are working with over 290 schools in the first year of this EEF programme, and the aim is to increase this number to 800 by the end of the third year of the programme.

More recently, the focus of this programme has shifted to the development/empowerment of school leaders. As part of this programme, Paul and Dee Keane, Project Lead for CCE, visited for two weeks at the end of 2019 to train 75 deputy school leaders in Chang Mai and Bangkok. This training was based on emerging work with the centre for Real World Learning on the development of a programme on ‘Leading for Creativity’ . In addition, Paul provided pedagogical advice to the EEF’s key staff and delivered further training sessions to leaders and teachers from the four other institutions who are now involved in the programme.

As indicated by the new Thai Minister of Education. H.E. Nataphol Teepsuwan in his presentation at the OECD conference in London in September, the Thai Government wants to concentrate future efforts on ‘Train the Trainer’ programmes to build the capacity of Thai educational leaders to develop the future school workforce. In this context, CCE has now devised a new intervention and Paul Collard and Di Fisher-Naylor will between them deliver six weeks of training in the spring in an intensive programme of workshop across most provinces of Thailand.
