CCE on Home Turf

The origin of CCE stems from the Creative Partnerships programme that ran in England between 2002 and 2012, but following the end of that particular programme, international interest began to grow in the pedagogical approaches that had emerged from the work Consequently, the majority of CCE’s work shifted away from England to focus on this emerging interest.

However, factors such as the recent changes in the Ofsted framework, particularly in relation to cultural capital, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) drawing up new questions to measure the quality of creativity among pupils, the re-emergence of the term ‘creativity’ in Arts Council England’s Strategy for 2020-30 for its next 10 year strategy, and the publication of the recommendations of the Durham Commission on Creativity and Education have perhaps not surprisingly re-ignited interest in our work from individual schools, Multi Academy Trusts and Local Authorities across England.

Paul Collard and Andrew Garrad have been working with Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick, Northumberland, providing staff training to enable the school to harness the energy and creativity in their CREATE programme with Year 7’s. The school has been invited to share the outcomes and impacts of their project at our event at Tate Exchange in June 2020.

Paul Collard has also been working with The Active Learning Trust, a family of 21 primary, secondary and special schools improving outcomes for children and young people in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Paul provided training and the Keynote speech at the Trust’s Arts Curriculum Day in December 2019 which was well received by the participants.

“Paul Collard did not disappoint. Affirming & inspiring: prompting us to reflect on creative pedagogy and practice. The 5 habits of creative schools: inquisitive, persistent, collaborative, imaginative and disciplined.” Conference delegate.
