Summary

Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, Sweden’s Minister for Culture, sets out her priorities for the Ministry of Culture during the Swedish Presidency of the EU.

The focus of the Ministry’s activities is Europe’s creative generation – the generation of children and young people who are not only consumers but also producers in today’s culture and media landscape. During the Presidency, Sweden intends to contribute to strengthening the right of children and young people to culture in Europe in the long term.

New media use and new cultural expressions present both opportunities and challenges. An important and shared responsibility is to strengthen children and young people as media consumers. Encouraging talent and creativity is fundamental to an open and dynamic Europe.
