In late September 2019 , CCE brought together a range of our International partners at Tate Exchange to share stories, successes, challenges and best practice.

Representatives from the projects and programmes we support came from far and wide and included:

It was the first time that many of the partners had met and as a group, the achievements are impressive. It was a pleasure for us at CCE to see how each partner has transformed a set of parallel projects/programmes into a powerful international movement. Each presentation was inspiring and at the heart of all of these was a series of powerful commonalities – the same core vision, the Creative Habits of Mind, the High Functioning Classroom, the commitment  to improving the educational experience and learning outcomes of children and young people around the world. But there were also significant differences in the way each team has shaped and developed their approach. These differences strengthen our network and provide important learning and experiences for us all to share.

We are now aiming for this network to continue, to be able to share learning and experiences between all partners, to get to know each other and each other’s programmes better. We felt that this would help us individually in our own work. As a network we are planning a week-long intervention in Tate Exchange in June 2020. This would be an opportunity to showcase our work, meet again as a network and raise the profile of what we do.

 The overall theme of the Tate Exchange programme in 2019/20 is Power. This led us to agree that we were committed to making the intervention a conversation, and not a static exhibit. In particular, to support Tate Exchange’s commitment to ‘making the invisible visible’ and our belief that creative learning requires the development of agency in children and young people, with the idea of empowering children and young people at the heart of our intervention. The experience of coming to the event will feel like joining a conversation – not being talked at. We also discussed the value this intervention could have in connecting with the large communities many of the partners have in the UK. Exciting times are ahead!
